Document Glass Adjustment And Removal

A document glass in a copier must be positioned above the
first mirror to a known position, parallel to the scan of the first
mirror with the right edge of the glass parallel to the mirror.

With reference to the figure, a method is described to
accomplish positioning of document glass 10 through adjustments of
support brackets 11.  Brackets 11 are adjusted through eccentrics 12
and 13 that are independent for each direction of adjustment.
Eccentrics 12 adjust for up and down position and eccentrics 13
adjust for left and right position.  Eccentrics 12 located at each
end of document glass 10 are adjusted to get the document glass
parallel and to the correct height above the scan of first mirror 14.
Document glass 10 can then be adjusted to remove skew and be
positioned parallel to first mirror 14 by means of eccentrics 13
without disturbing the other adjustments already made.

The front reference edge of the glass can be adjusted
independent of the other glass adjustments by moving pin 15 and nut
16 that positions bezel 17 on support brackets 11. Pin 15 in the
front of the bezel and pin 18 in the rear of the bezel maintain the
right reference edge adjustment as the front reference edge is
adjusted.

With pins 15 and 18 adjusted, bezel 17 can now be removed by
removing four screws 19.  This allows easy access to the components
below the bezel and exact repositioning of the bezel without fur...
