Checkin Parameter Set

This article describes a mechanism to permit enterprise
users, with appropriate authority to an object, to check in the
previous checked-out object to a DIA library.

When an object is revisable, any enterprise user with
appropriate authority to the object may want to check out the object
for editing.  After finishing editing, one may want to check the
object back into the library where it was checked out.  The
information of where to check in, the document id, the library id,
etc., needs to be recorded in order to successfully check in the
object.  No mechanism prior to this architecture exists in the
Document Interchange Architecture to provide such a function.

This article provides a mechanism whereby a previously checked-
out object can be successfully checked back into the library where
the object was checked out.  This is provided by architecting a new
parameter set, the CHECKIN PARAMETER SET, in the library model object
of the new object. This CHECKIN PARAMETER SET is created by the
library service in the new copy of the object when the object was
checked out.  It contains information such as the library id of the
checked-out object, the document id, the user id of the user who
checked out the object, etc., to ensure that the checked-out object
can subsequently be checked in to the library where it resides.
