Calendar Year Page

Consider a computer calendar system.  Current art
provides for a traditional year page, starting with January and
printing holidays known to the calendar system.

An improvement over this method is one where a) the calendar
user can add individual holidays or other significant occurrences
such as birthdays and anniversaries, and b) allowing the year page to
contain twelve months starting at a user-specified month.

Refer to Fig. 1.  This is a typical computer terminal screen
which allows both the selection of a start date and the choice to
print a year page.  Obviously, choosing a date in January gives the
traditionally January-December page. This screen also allows the
entry of the name of a "user data" file containing additional,
personal, holidays to be printed on the calendar.  Refer to Fig. 2.
This is a page of this method showing both system holidays, such as
Labor Day, and personal holidays, such as the birthdays.

The method proceeds in these steps:  The month arrangement of
days (number of days, day of the week of the first of the month, and
month name) are calculated for each of the twelve months, starting at
the requested first month. Then the user data file is searched for
personal holidays. Finally, the calendar system is searched for
system-wide holidays.  This information is then arranged in a format
usable by the year page-formatting computer process, and the page is
formatted and printed.
