Transaction Recovery Method for Printer

Disclosed is a method of the local recovery of a print
transaction for passbooks, documents and cut-forms after processing
failure caused by a power-off, a mechanical break or an operator
intervention, etc.

The method is shown in figure.  This method can be any
combination of software, firmware and/or hardware and is implemented
in the printer.

In case of a normal processing, print data comes to the print
data handler, then the print data handler saves the print data and
the transaction processing information into the NVRAM (Non-Volatile
Random Access Memory).  Next, the print data handler requests a paper
feed to the paper feed control and/or printing to the print unit
control.

In case of a recovery process after any transaction processing
failure, initially the print data handler waits for a recovery start
command.  If the print data handler receives a recovery start
command, it requests to display the previously requested data saved
in the NVRAM to the guidance display control.  Then an operator can
resume the transaction after verifying the resume point with both the
displayed information and the printed result.

If an operator inserts the identical medium into the printer
after verification, the print data handler requests a paper feed to
the resuming position, then requests a print of remaining data.
