Abstract

A program is disclosed that enhances the current user interface of the Query Manager Panel design. In the current Query Manager design, the size of the mark text and mark field windows are defaulted to 1 character high and 18 characters wide. The user may enter data less than 18 characters or more than 18 characters. If the data length is less than 18 characters, the remaining window space will be treated as trailing blanks. These extra blanks may cover other valid data on the panel. The user then needs to shrink the window horizontally in order to remove the blanks. If the data length is greater than 18 characters, the window is scrolled to the left and only partial data will be shown in the window. The user then needs to stretch the window horizontally to show all of the data.

Provide Resized And Transparent Windows for Mark Text And Field Windows During Query Manager Panel Design Process

A program is disclosed that enhances the current user
interface of the Query Manager Panel design.  In the current Query
Manager design, the size of the mark text and mark field windows are
defaulted to 1 character high and 18 characters wide.  The user may
enter data less than 18 characters or more than 18 characters.  If
the data length is less than 18 characters, the remaining window
space will be treated as trailing blanks.  These extra blanks may
cover other valid data on the panel.  The user then needs to shrink
the window horizontally in order to remove the blanks.  If the data
length is greater than 18 characters, the window is scrolled to the
left and only partial data will be shown in the window.  The user
then needs to stretch the window horizontally to show all of the
data.  The user may resize the window into a field which is several
characters high, and text will be reformatted within that window.
This process creates some more blank spaces in the window which,
again, may cover other valid data on the panel.

By giving a resized and transparent window, the problem can be
solved easily.  During the creation of mark text and mark field
windows, the size of the windows is still defaulted to 1 character
high and 18 characters wide.  After the data is entered through the
pop- ups, the window will be resized according to t...
