       In present day technology it is desirable to drill blind
holes in printed circuit boards.

      Disclosed is a mechanically adjustable device for drilling
variable depth blind holes in printed circuit boards.

      This is accomplished with a special Blind Hole Pressure Foot 6
(see Fig. 1) and Drilling Spindle 3 attached to a Beam 4, located
over a Printed Circuit Board 5.

      When a blind hole is to be drilled, the pressure foot is driven
down to the top surface of the printed circuit board (regardless of
variance in board thickness) clamping it between the Printed Circuit
Board Fixture 15 and the Adjustable Nose Cone 7 portion of the
pressure foot.

      The Spindle 3 is then driven down until Surface 1 of the
Spindle comes in contact with a Mechanical Stop (Surface 2) built
into the Pressure Foot 6.

      Various depths of holes can be drilled.  This is accomplished
by adjusting the Nose Cone 7 in relation to the Mechanical Stop
(Surface 2) of the Pressure Foot 6.

      The depth of the hole to be drilled will be the difference
between dimension "A" minus Dimension "B".  ("A" - "B" = Depth of
Drilled Hole "C".  (See the figure.)
 o    Dimension "A" equals distance from surface 1 on the spindle
           to tip of the drill.
      o    Dimension "B" equals distance from Stop Surface 2 of
Pressure Foot 6 to front end of Adjustable Nose Cone 7.
