Variably Adjustable Drilling Unit

Drilling hole patterns in electronic circuit boards and
cards increasingly necessitates off-grid patterns.  This means the
holes are not positioned at fixed regular distances.

The drilling unit described is provided with rows 1, 2, 3, 4 of
small separate drilling spindles 5.  Rows 2, 3, and 4 are fitted with
a carrier 6.  In carrier 6, spindles 5 may be positioned at different
spacings in the X-direction, using appropriately thick spacers 7, 7',
7".  In the Y-direction, each row is movably arranged on rails 8, 9.
Spacers 10, 10', 10" of different thickness are provided between rows
1, 2, 3, and 4.  Spindles 5 are adjustable both in the X- and the
Y- direction.  Additionally, a row 1 of spindles 5 with fixed
distances may be provided.
