Insert/Extract Dynamic Screens

Disclosed is a console function program that supports a
changing hardware design during the development cycle.

Insert/Extract is a Support Processor tool that allows the user
to display and alter hardware entities (which includes logical
mapping of scan ring latches, hardware arrays, registers, latches,
and gates).

Insert/Extract Dynamic Screens is guaranteed to match the
current level of hardware with no required code changes.
Insert/Extract Dynamic Screens create panels at run-time based on
current hardware definition that allows the user to display real or
logged hardware entities.

There are two steps for the users.  The first step is to
create, modify or select a panel definition file which lists the
hardware entities for the dynamic screen.  The second step is to use
the Dynamic Screen Package to display the screen from the panel
definition file.

For the first step, the user lists the hardware entities to be
displayed on the panel definition file.  The user can control the
layout of each hardware entity by parameters specified in a panel
definition file.  The panel definitions can be constructed on any
system with an editor. The panel definitions can be transferred from
a floppy disk to any Support Processor or vice versa, allowing each
user group the capability of tailoring their own interface to the
user's specific requirement.

During the second step, the Dynamic Screen Package displays the
panel from the user's panel definition file. Here are the steps that
are performed by the Dynamic Screen Package:
