Removable Panel Lamp Connection

       Disclosed is a means by which electrical connections may
be easily made to an LED mounted on a removable front panel. In a
first embodiment, electrical connection is made by a plunger/spring
clip system and in a second embodiment, the LED is mounted on a
printed circuit board which makes connection with an edge connector
on the chassis.

      The panel typically is a plastic non-conducting molding which
is mechanically aligned by molded dowel pins that engage into chassis
sockets.  When aligned and closed, the panel and chassis are retained
together by a pair of spaced plungers and spring clips.  It is
required to break an electrical connection to an LED indicator when
the panel is removed.

      First Embodiment An insulator 1 (Fig. 1) is fixed to the
chassis 2 flange by screw 3 through the chassis. A brass plunger 4 is
screwed into the insulator 1 retaining terminal 8.  The two screw
ends 3 and 4 do not touch.  Spring clip 5 is screwed to the panel
6, retaining terminal 7.  A wire may be taken from terminal 7 to the
LED.  The return connection from the LED is effected via another
identical plunger/clip connection.

      Second Embodiment A simple printed circuit board 8 (Fig. 2),
with an LED 9 fixed to it, has a profile fashioned into tongue 10
with two edge connector tabs 11 connected back 8 to the LED 9. The
