Abstract

Disclosed is a method of reporting labor data in a product-packing environment supported by a real-time tracking and control system without the requirement for specific labor-claiming terminals. Information about the units packed (quantity and type) is merged from the pick-list module in the tracking system.

Method of Integrating Labor Data Collection

Disclosed is a method of reporting labor data in a
product-packing environment supported by a real-time tracking and
control system without the requirement for specific labor-claiming
terminals.  Information about the units packed (quantity and type) is
merged from the pick-list module in the tracking system.

This invention utilizes unit information from the online
packing list quantities and relates the units to a carton or group of
cartons to be processed for a specific store order.  This information
on the units included in the shipment is copied into a storage area
in the real-time online distribution system to await the time when
the car tons are released from the marking area.  This system
associates specific standard time and motion standards to be used to
compare actual times to standard time allowances.

The worker is required to place a bar-coded employee-ID label
(see figure) onto the shipping label, indicating that he/she
performed the packing activity.  Disclosed is the function of the
module of code to record the carton or shipping label ID and the
marker's ID number, as seen in the figure.  The system would track
the location and timestamp information for the carton control system
as well as build a file of worker-to-carton relationships.  This
system would compile the data from units associated with cartons from
the pick-pack module.  The full body of information required to
