Easily Attachable Machine Cover Set

A requirement for this machine is that it have covers
that are decorative only and easy to remove.  This cover set is
designed so that it snaps together.  Basically, it is a
fasten-to-each-other design and can move laterally on the main frame
of the machine.  This allows the gaps between covers to be controlled
uniformly.  This design creates a quality-looking product.

The cover set (see the figure) consists of six separate parts
with the sides 2 being symmetrical so that one part number is used
twice.  The remainder of the parts are a base 1, top cover 3, front
cover 4, and a rear cover 5.

The top cover 3 is also symmetrical in that it has no front or
rear, and can be installed either way.  The base machine 1 is
attached to the frame by two projections.  The base is inserted into
the frame, moved forward and captured by the two projections and a
single screw.  The base has six projections (three per side) that are
used to locate EASILY and capture the side covers 2 at the bottom of
the machine. There is a corresponding number of slots in the bottom
of the side cover 2.

The side cover 2 is inserted onto the base projections, then
snapped into the side plate of the machine frame.  Four snap clips
are used to hold the side cover 2 to the side plate.  This side plate
has four rectangular holes which engage the clips.  The covers are
installed or removed by a pushing or pulling motion wh...
