Test Management System for Complex Software Development Environments

The Test Management System manages test documentation
development, execution, and test status reporting.  The system
provides the capability to submit problems, questions and
enhancements regarding the test environment to the responsible test
personnel.  The test environment includes the test manager, a
mainframe computer, an intelligent workstation, and the software
under test.

The test manager executes on an intelligent workstation and
interfaces with the mainframe which serves as a repository for test
documentation and the test database. The test database is used to
generate reports.  The test manager creates consistent test
documents, maintains all test documents in a consolidated library,
executes one or more test scripts using an automatic regression tool,
creates and maintains the test database, generates reports based on
data in the database, and submits problems or questions regarding the
test environment to the software test team.  The test documents
include test plans, test cases and test scripts.  A test script is a
file containing recorded key strokes to simulate a test case
scenario.  The library provides functions to edit, browse, rename,
copy, delete, print, check-in, and check-out test documents.  The
test database contains all the test case names, dates of execution,
indication of success or failure and identification of known errors.
