Gear Holder for Printer Ribbon Stuffer Cartridge

Disclosed is a holder for the idler gear in a printer ribbon
stuffer cartridge.  This gear holder places the hinge point in the
optimum position, holds the idler gear compression spring,
facilitates stripping the ribbon from the idler gear, and provides a
barrier to keep the ribbon out of the hinge.

Referring to Figure 1 it is seen that Gear Holder 1 provides
Journal 2 for the idler gear, Hinge Post 3, Ribbon Barrier 4, and
Spring Holder 5. Referring to Figure 2, Gear Holder 1 is seen in
position within Ribbon Cartridge 6. It is seen that Hinge Post 3 and
its Journal 7 are located on the interior side of Idler Gear 8 in an
ideal position for Compression Spring 9 to pivot Holder 1, loading
Idler Gear 8 against Drive Gear. It is further seen that the edge of
Holder 1 is so contoured 11, as to facilitate stripping Ribbon 12
from Idler Gear 8. It is also seen that the Ribbon Barrier 4, an
extension of Holder 1, overlaps hinge post Journal 7, effectively
keeping Ribbon 12 out of the hinge area.
