Technique to Automate Program Processing

      Provided is a technique to allow users to handle programs and
procedures on windowing systems in order to overcome deficiencies in
current techniques.

      The user is provided with conventional functions for
displaying, editing, and running programs.  In addition, users are
provided with the following enhancements
      -- Direct manipulation techniques to run, print, discard, etc.
of computer programs via 2-click of mouse buttons
      -- Windowing support for viewing program code as well as
viewing program execution results
      -- Icons to represent the computer program and to serve as the
"program execute" or run commands

      The benefits to the user include new function, ease of
learning, increased awareness of program functions, improved
usability, and consistency with conventional operation of object
techniques.
