Static Device for Merging Inline Heads to Disks

      The bump loader is a simple static device to load inline heads
on or off a rigid disk.

      As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a bump loader 2 is constructed so
that a load beam 1 is raised as a slider (head) 3 accesses on or
off a disk 4.  This raises slider 3 above the plane of disk 4 until
slider 3 is positioned over the load zone on disk 4.  Load beam 1
then slides off bump loader 2, dropping slider 3 onto disk 4.  The
procedure is reversed to unload the head.
