Abstract

This paper deals with the creation of the DIA AUTHORIZE operand. This operand is used to make any changes to parameters in the DIA Access Control Model Object. It functions the same as the MODIFY- DATA operand, but it was created to keep changes to access control information separate from changes to other DIA parameters. This is a step to allow access control decisions to be separate from other DIA Service actions.

AUTHORIZE Format 41 Operand

This paper deals with the creation of the DIA AUTHORIZE
operand.  This operand is used to make any changes to parameters in
the DIA Access Control Model Object. It functions the same as the
MODIFY- DATA operand, but it was created to keep changes to access
control information separate from changes to other DIA parameters.
This is a step to allow access control decisions to be separate from
other DIA Service actions.

The changes to the Access Control Model Object (ACMO) was
accomplished with the MODIFY-DATA operand. This allowed changes to
access control information to be made at the same instance with
changes to other DIA parameters. This created problems with possible
errors on the modification of other DIA parameters causing a rollback
on changes to access control information, as all changes in the
MODIFY-DATA operand must be successful or no changes are committed.

The DIA AUTHORIZE (Format 41) operand can be specified on a
FILE command to define the Access Control Model Object (ACMO) for a
new Document, based on another referenced document. It specifies the
content of the ACMO to be the same as the referenced document, except
the owner is set by the requester of the FILE command. By using the
AUTHORIZE (Format 41) operand the requester does not need to specify
the entire Access Control Model Object parameters for a new document
if they are to be the same as for an existing document.  Without this
format of the...
