Strain Relief for Optical Fiber Cable

      Disclosed is a fiber optic clamp strain relief which strain
relieves the buffered fiber and cable.  The strain relief contains an
internal clamp which will hold the buffered fiber in place.

      A duplex optical cable is stripped to expose two buffered
fibers (1) which will be inserted through the composite strain relief
(2).  The strength member (3) is wrapped around the strain relief
body (5).  A copper retainer (4) is inserted over the strain relief
body (5) and strength member (3).  The buffered fibers (1) are now
tightly restrained by the integrated internal fiber clamp (6).  The
copper retainer (4) is then crimped, thus strain relieving the cable.
