Spring-Loaded Mounting Arm

The illustrated tool provides a means for manufacturing
operators to install swage-mount product magnetic heads into current
manufacturing testers for use at single disk tests.

In the figure, an arm 1 has a groove cut in it for a
slide 2 to move back and forth in.  Slide 2 is spring loaded by
spring 3 which provides an automatic retract.  A Head Suspension
Assembly (HSA) 4 has a swage-mounting block which provides a hole in
the center of the assembly.  This hole is fixtured over a dowel 5 in
slide 2.  When the slide assembly is retracted, dowel 5 pulls HSA 4
into arm 1 as the back edge of HSA 4 is held by spring 3
against a ridge 6, machined into arm 1.  A spring 7 holds HSA 4 flat.
This provides the repeatable datums for the HSA positioning.

To remove HSA 4, slide 2 is pushed in, eliminating the spring
forces from spring 7 and 3.  HSA 4 is removed from dowel 5.
