Molded Push/Push Knob Design

      Disclosed is a low-cost push/push knob which serves as an
integral part of an external monitor cover set, protects the user
from electrical shock, and allows access to individuals with
disabilities.  The knob has the international symbol 10 for on/off on
the front face.

      The knob has two distinct and unique features.  The first
feature is arms 12 that press-fit onto the housing 16 of a switch 14.
This feature reduces the play that the switch exhibits when depressed
from either side of knob. The next feature is legs 18 that extend
downward from the arms and ride on a card 22 supporting the switch
housing. The legs reduce the amount of torsional movement of the
knob.

      The knob design reduces the chance of any electrical injury to
the user because of a safety lip 20 that encompasses the outer area
of the knob design.  This safety lip does not allow any debris or
foreign objects into the bezel that might cause a malfunction.  The
knob design also restricts the movement of the knob within the bezel
opening. The push/push knob and the switch also allow access to
individuals with disabilities.
