Technique for Inserting and Extracting Pluggable Modules

      The insertion of pluggable modules with internal thermal
enhancement (ite) poses several reliability concerns. Disclosed is a
tool designed to provide a reliable insertion/extraction process.

      A module contains a chip with interconnections and ite for
power dissipation.  The insertion/extraction tool is designed:
      A.   To contact the cap over the module seating plane during
insertion to reduce cap deflection and insure thermal performance.
      B.   With an undercut on the jaw to eliminate damage to the
module seal.

      Two jaws are used, one on each of two opposite sides of module.
