Insertion Force Calibrator

      Described herein is a method and tool to quickly check and/or
accomplish proper clutch calibration of Memory Module Insert Tools.

      The design consists of a spring block, platen, indicator pin,
shoulder screws and selected springs capable of delivering a range of
force encompassing the specified insertion force. The assembled tool,
minus the indicator pin, is then characterized to determine the exact
amount of deflection required to meet the force. The indicator pin is
then customized to be flush with the top block surface when the
desired force is applied.

      The clutch calibrator is installed in the insertion tool in
place of the module/socket assembly and the tool is actuated. The
insertion force is then adjusted until the indicator pin is flush, or
near flush, with the block surface. Near flush is acceptable,
exceeding a flush condition is unacceptable, thereby insuring the
maximum specified insertion force has not been exceeded.
