Object-Tree Within a Pie Menu

Provided is a visual technique for displaying tree-like
information to overcome deficiencies with conventional presentation
techniques.

Systems will continue to present information in visual
hierarchic and flat trees.  However, enhancements to the hierarchic
and tree information are as follows
O    Provide a pie menu (spherical or other shape) to present
information
O    Present the tree-like information within the pie menu, showing
the information in "perspective"
O    Allow user selection of the tree information from any part of
the visible pie menu via pointer or keyboard technique and provide a
capability for rapid scrolling in any direction, e.g., diagonal,
horizontal, etc.
O    Allow the user to "zoom" in or out of the presentation to show
more or less information, as well as changing the size of the pie
menu

The information immediately in front of the user is displayed
in the largest size.  Information on either side of the closest
information is displayed in smaller sizes.

The benefits to the end user include new functionality,
improved presentation of hierarchies, improved navigation, an easy to
learn control type, and an easy to use interaction technique.
