Abstract

It is proposed to utilize whiskers or fibers in a contact sheet to enhance expansion control of glass-ceramic substrates used in the production of semiconductor packages. The fibers or whiskers consist of inorganic, non-densifying materials incorporated into the powders used to fabricate the contact sheet. The whiskers would serve to increase the contact sheet strength and aid in controlling shrinkage or expansion of the substrate.
