Case Sensitivity Specification On Search Or Modify

This article describes a method for allowing office users to
specify their preferences on case sensitivity comparisons in a SEARCH
or a MODIFY operation.

One of the problems we are facing in today's office environment
is that office users cannot specify the case sensitivity preferences
in a SEARCH operation or a MODIFY operation.  There are no consistent
implementations in current office products.  This causes duplicate or
inaccurate results to be generated sometimes.  For example, there may
be more search results generated than wanted if a user wants to
perform a case sensitive comparison on search, but the search service
performs a case insensitive comparison instead.  Currently, there is
no mechanism in the office environment to allow users to specify
their preferences on case sensitivity in a SEARCH or a MODIFY
operation.

This article provides a mechanism whereby an office user can
specify that a case sensitive or a case insensitive comparison is to
be performed in a SEARCH or a MODIFY operation.  This function is
provided by defining a new operand in both the SEARCH command and the
MODIFY command. This new operand allows office users to specify their
preferences on case sensitivity in a SEARCH or a MODIFY operation.
