Window Shopping Intermediate Results

      Provided is a technique for users to automatically save and
recall intermediate work products in order to overcome deficiencies
of conventional display techniques.

      Users are provided with conventional means of developing work
products, i.e., creating documents or charts in windows.  In
addition, users are provided with the following enhancements:
O   A "current work area" for interaction with an object, as in
changing the color of a chart.
O    Temporary display save areas for collecting and viewing multiple
interim work products while the user continues to develop more
options in the current work area, which are "zoomed down" images to
conserve screen space.
O    An active "print preview" window to allow the user to see how
the current object in the area would look when printed.
O    A collection of actions which allow the user to save the object
in the work area into a save area, retrieve a view from the save
area, etc.
O    Other relevant selections, i.e., color palettes.

      The user has the capability of performing "window shopping"
functions on intermediate work products and options in real time.
The user can interchange objects between the primary and window
shopping areas.  The user can see how any one option will appear if
printed.  The technique has broad applicability to viewing the
results of changes in data or properties, queries, analyses based
upon different sources of informati...
