Pre-Kitting Thin-Film Disks

Disclosed is a method of pre-kitting disks into a specific
grouping and quality order.

The software described utilizes sort capabilities for ease of
manufacturing at an automated disk packaging station.  Pre- kitting
involves ordering single-side good and double-side good disks in a
specified sequence, and also arranging these disks into file pack
groups.

The software solution designates a separate holding location
for the single-side good disks.  A quality sort proceeds for
double-side good disks.  When the location in a group for the
single-side good disk is approached, a single-side good disk is
picked up from the holding location and is folded into the
double-side good holding area. However, if there is no single- side
good disk in the holding area, the next double-side good disk is
placed into that location so the sort may continue without
intervention. When enough disks are acquired to fill a shipping
container, the disks are moved from the sorting area to the shipping
container and are gapped with interleaved spaces to the file pack
grouping sizes.
