Composite Silicone Rubber Roller

Disclosed is the composition for a silicone rubber roller. The
roller is used as a fuser-backup roller in an electrophotographic
printer.

It is necessary for the application that the rubber have a low
hardness of 20A Shore durometer.  However, this makes the surface of
the roller tacky, so that toner can stick to the roller, which is
undesirable.

The sticking can be lessened by making a composite roller.  A
15A-Shore-durometer silicone rubber core can be coated with a thin
layer of harder silicone rubber, approximately 40A Shore durometer.
The harder coating will provide a less-tacky surface.

The composite roller will have a similar compliance to a solid
20-Shore-A-durometer silicone roller.
