Automation of Jams or Quick Stop Clearing for Document Processors

      Disclosed is a procedure to automate the time consuming tasks
of clearing the transport of a document processor after an abnormal
stop condition.

      During abnormal stopping conditions, several documents will
remain in the transport.  The processing of these documents will be
at varying stages of completeness.  To return the document processor
to operation, the transport must be cleared and the documents
manually processed.

      The procedure currently used is to remove the documents from
the transport.  Then using the display control terminal, the document
information is displayed and the operator can place each document in
the correct stacker pocket.

      This disclosure purposes the pocket full indicator light be
program controlled, to automate the pocketing of the recovered
documents.

      Once the machine has stopped, the operator will remove the
documents normally.  When all the documents have been removed, the
operator will return the machine to a ready to start condition.  This
condition indicates to the controller that the transport has been
cleared.

      The application program will turn on the pocket indicator lamp
showing the correct destination for the first document removed from
the transport.  Once the document is inserted into the indicated
pocket, the operator will move the stacker arm to activate the pocket
