Graphical Slide Projector

      Provided is a graphical technique for preparation and use of
online presentation materials in order to overcome deficiencies with
conventional techniques.

      The user is provided with a system for creating, editing and
viewing collections of discrete information, e.g., presentation foils
or slides.  The user's model is that of a physical slide projector,
individual slides, and carrousels for holding collections of slides.
In addition, the user is provided with the following:
 -  Icons to represent individual slides, carrousels, and projectors.
 -  Direct manipulation capabilities which allow slides and
carrousels to be moved to a projector and displayed. The individual
slides can be re-ordered within the carrousel via user or system
provided algorithms.
 -  The capability of using direct manipulation techniques for
turning any system-displayed image into a slide, while preserving
linkage to the originating software.
 -  Editing of any slide using the "Slide Editor" or the software
that originated the presentation image.
 -  Output operations on selected slides or the entire collection,
e.g., print the entire content of a carrousel.

      The concepts can be extended to motion video/audio collections
of information.  Other standard operations are provided, e.g., zoom,
go to, etc.
