Abstract

A smart cable, which is a flex cable containing interconnected components, is used to illustrate the concept, although certainly a flex cable with no components can be applied. VELCRO (trademark of Velcro, Inc.) material can be taped or glued onto several spots on one side of the flex material, even under the components, and additional VELCRO* material can be attached to machine members in corresponding locations. The VELCRO* material on the flex tends to stiffen the flex to facilitate placement of the cable, after which it will be held securely in place even if the machine is moved or placed in an alternate orientation. This prevents both electrical and mechanical interference with other parts of the machine. If maintenance is required the cable can easily be reworked, removed or replaced. (Image Omitted)

Flex Cable Anchor Technique

A smart cable, which is a flex cable containing interconnected
components, is used to illustrate the concept, although certainly a
flex cable with no components can be applied.  VELCRO (trademark of
Velcro, Inc.) material can be taped or glued onto several spots on
one side of the flex material, even under the components, and
additional VELCRO* material can be attached to machine members in
corresponding locations.  The VELCRO* material on the flex tends to
stiffen the flex to facilitate placement of the cable, after which it
will be held securely in place even if the machine is moved or placed
in an alternate orientation. This prevents both electrical and
mechanical interference with other parts of the machine.  If
maintenance is required the cable can easily be reworked, removed or
replaced.
