       Disclosed is an enhancement to the Emulation High Level
Language Application Programming Interface (EHLLAPI) in OS/2* ES 1.0
to allow an application to have more than one concurrent structured
field connection to a 3270 emulation session.

      Support for the 3270 destination/origin datastream architecture
is provided through the use of the EHLLAPI structured field
functions.  These functions allow an application to start a
structured field session, send and receive data in the structured
field format, and stop the structured field session.  Application use
of structured fields provides a high performance method for
exchanging data between an application running on the PC and an
application running on the 3270 host.  They are the method used by
File Transfer and SRPI type applications for this purpose.

      This enhancement allows EHLLAPI to take full advantage of the
destination/origin functionality.  It allows an EHLLAPI application
to set up multiple concurrent connections to a single 3270 host.
These can be viewed as individual pipes between the PC application
and the host for transferring data.
