Icon for IBM Extended Services, Create Custom Install Diskette

Disclosed is an icon for IBM Extended Services, Version
1.0, within Operating System/2* (OS/2*) (see the figure).

Object-oriented graphical user interfaces are based upon icons
and other visuals.  Icons are the visual metaphors that represent
objects that may be manipulated within an application.  The icon
should represent the user's perception of the purpose of the object.

An icon was required to represent visually the OS/2
Presentation Manager* window's function for Extended Services, Create
Custom Install Diskette. This problem was solved by providing the
icon described within this article.

The IBM Extended Services, Version 1.0, Create Custom Install
Diskette icon is a minimized object of an OS/2 Presentation Manager
window.  This icon will appear within the Extended Services group.

The Create Custom Install Diskette tool will allow the
administrator to create a diskette which will automate the
installation of Extended Services features and components for the
user.  The user will then use this diskette during the Extended
Services installation, greatly reducing the install work for the
user.

This icon's metaphor is the diskette symbol representing the
location of the administrator-created files.  The pencil represents
configuration.  The line with the arrow pointing down symbolizes the
installation process.
