Abstract

Described is a method whereby a user can erase objects or data from multiple locations easily without selecting an action on each separate object or piece of data. In Erase Mode the user selects an erase mode action. After this action, everything the user selects is erased without the requirement of a separate action bar erase selection. The sequence of events follows; 1) The user selects erase mode from a pulldown menu 2) The user drags the pointer over a specific object or piece of data highlighting the object or data 3) The user double-clicks with mouse button 1 erasing the data 4) The user proceeds to the next data object to be erased, etc.

Erase Mode

      Described is a method whereby a user can erase objects or data
from multiple locations easily without selecting an action on each
separate object or piece of data.  In Erase Mode the user selects an
erase mode action.  After this action, everything the user selects is
erased without the requirement of a separate action bar erase
selection.  The sequence of events follows;
  1) The user selects erase mode from a pulldown menu
  2) The user drags the pointer over a specific object or piece of
data highlighting the object or data
  3) The user double-clicks with mouse button 1 erasing the data
  4) The user proceeds to the next data object to be erased, etc.

      To end erase mode the user selects the same action, turning off
the toggle check mark.  This saves the user time and requires fewer
actions for successive erasing actions.
