Abstract

Often originators of meeting notices desire to remind attendees of a particular meeting. A mechanism is described by which a reminder for a meeting notice can be sent to the appropriate attendees via telephone, using a Text to Speech service. Upon an originator creating a meeting notice the user is optionally allowed to set a flag to activate a telephone reminder facility. A Meeting Service Facility (MSF) processes the meeting notice and acts as a router for reminders. The MSF validates the meeting notice, if the meeting notice is valid and the telephone reminder flag is active, the MSF activates a Timer Service, passing a unique notification identifier. The Timer Service dials the number of the attendees at the appropriate time and converts a predefined text response to audio over the attendee's telephone.

Telephone Meeting Notification Facility

Often originators of meeting notices desire to remind attendees
of a particular meeting.  A mechanism is described by which a
reminder for a meeting notice can be sent to the appropriate
attendees via telephone, using a Text to Speech service.  Upon an
originator creating a meeting notice the user is optionally allowed
to set a flag to activate a telephone reminder facility.  A Meeting
Service Facility (MSF) processes the meeting notice and acts as a
router for reminders.  The MSF validates the meeting notice, if the
meeting notice is valid and the telephone reminder flag is active,
the MSF activates a Timer Service, passing a unique notification
identifier.  The Timer Service dials the number of the attendees at
the appropriate time and converts a predefined text response to audio
over the attendee's telephone.

This mechanism allows the originator to use telephone services
to set reminders for attendees.  This allows attendees to be notified
of meetings prior to the meetings.
