Abstract

Disclosed here is a tool for loading or merging a couple of magnetic heads on a magnetic disk or into a hard disk drive. As shown in Fig. 1, the tool has a minus-driver-like tip which, after being turned around, will make the magnetic heads apart and after being turned around again it will make the heads close. By turning the tool at different angles A or B as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the different widths of the gap between the load beams can be made.

Universal Rotary Head Loader

Disclosed here is a tool for loading or merging a couple of
magnetic heads on a magnetic disk or into a hard disk drive.  As
shown in Fig. 1, the tool has a minus-driver-like tip which, after
being turned around, will make the magnetic heads apart and after
being turned around again it will make the heads close.  By turning
the tool at different angles A or B as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the
different widths of the gap between the load beams can be made.

This tool is called as Universal Rotary Head Loader and has an
advantage of separating the heads easily by inserting the narrow part
or the tip of the tool into the gap of the magnetic-head suspension
and turning it around to let the wide part of the tool open the gap.

The shape of the tip of the tool is shown in Fig. 3.  By
changing the dimension of Type-A to Type-E, the tool can cope with
universal conditions.
