Abstract

Keying of cards and boards into the proper slot location in computer hardware is essential for proper functionality. Keying of cards and boards into blind mate type connections presents exposure to misplugging. Positive keying of cards and boards is needed to prevent inadvertent misplugging that could result in incorrect voltage/current loads that may damage the card or board. Disclosed is a device that provides a positive means to prevent the inadvertent misplugging of cards and boards into the incorrect slot for blind mate type connections. This design utilizes various shapes and profiles in the guide and rail configurations. These shapes are mated to assure positive keying. Easy-to-use mounting channels provide a means to attach the card or board to the guide (see figure).
