In-Basket Sort by Distribution

This article describes a mechanism for allowing the user to
sort in-coming mail based on the type of distribution list and the
number of participants found within that distribution list.

In today's computer system, more and more mail is being
electronically sent to users.  To read important mail, a user must
often examine extraneous mail before finding the more important
information.
This article describes a mechanism whereby a user's mail can be
sorted based upon the type of distribution list in which the user is
found, and by the number of other users listed within that
distribution list.  Two types of distribution lists are 'TO' and
'CC'.  Where 'TO' is used to send mail specifically to a user and
'CC' is used to pass on information which may or may not be relevant
to the user.  It is obvious that 'TO' mail should have a higher
priority than 'CC' mail.
Also the number of people to whom the note was sent can also
indicate how vital that note is to the user.  If a user receives a
note where he/she is the sole recipient, then this is obviously more
important than if there were fifty people on the distribution list.
By sorting the mail in the following order, an in-basket can
display mail which will be in an order that should mirror more
closely the relative importance of each note.  The sort order could
be:

o   TO with 1 user
o   TO with multiple users
o   TO with a distribution list
o ...
