A technique is disclosed that facilitates the discovery of frequently used terms in a document. Linked to a thesaurus, the technique also assists the user in providing alternative terminology for the frequently used terms discovered. Thesaurus-Linked Redundancy Checker

      A technique is disclosed that facilitates the discovery of
frequently used terms in a document.  Linked to a thesaurus, the
technique also assists the user in providing alternative terminology
for the frequently used terms discovered.  Upon invocation of the
function, the user would set several parameters, including:

1.  Words to Exclude.  For example, it is reasonable to assume that
    articles and conjunctions may not be of interest to the user in
    this context.  Other possibilities for exclusion might include
    proper nouns or specific terms that are being discussed in the
    document.
2.  Target Frequency Ranges.  Users would not want to look at low
    frequencies or very high frequencies that might be generated by

    common words.  Users would be able to set the desired frequency
    ranges.
3.  Scope of Frequency Groupings.  The user would specify if the
    system is to look at frequency of words per line, paragraph,
    page, chapter, or document.

    After processing the document based on the user-specified
parameters, the system would respond with a pop-up listing the target
frequency words.  As the user selects a term in the pop-up, instances
of the term are highlighted in the document.  An additional pop-up
appears, providing synonyms for the term.  The user would select the
instance of the term to be changed and then either select a provided
synonym substitute for...
