Low Texture Disks Tape Burnishing Process and Apparatus

      Disclosed is a method and apparatus for blowing a micron grit
tape against a media disk for burnishing off asperity peaks.

Two embodiments of the method and apparatus are shown.

      Fig. 1 shows a slit nozzle which creates a wedge shape pattern
on the tape.  The pattern can be made larger or smaller based on the
amount of burnishing needing to be accomplished.

      Fig. 2 shows a hole nozzle which allows for a circular pattern
on the tape.

      Both patterns show the means to produce a contact area on the
tape to produce a minimized pattern with enough pressure for the
burnishing capability.
