Chiller Water Temperature Control Method

      Disclosed is a chiller water temperature control method for
operating the chiller efficiently and stabilizing the system supply
temperature.

      Fig. 1 shows the conventional system configuration.  If the
temperature difference between supply and return chiller water is
smaller than the design figure or water demand is larger than the
chiller flow, bypass flow occurs and causes unstable supply
temperature.  To keep the criteria of system outlet temperature, the
set point of chiller outlet temperature is fixed lower enough to
absorb the heat increase of the bypass flow.  That is a waste of
energy.

      To solve the above problems, set point of chiller outlet
temperarure is automatically shifted in compliance with the deviation
from the set point of system outlet temperature, as shown in Fig. 2.

      Control range of chiller outlet temperature depends on the type
of chiller (see Fig. 3).

      As a result, chiller capacity can be highly utilized and supply
temperature can be far more stable.
