Mechanism for Automatic Adjustment to the Date and Time of Event Reminder

This article describes a mechanism to automate the delivery of
reminders in correlation with scheduled events on users' Calendar.

Often users request multiple reminders for multiple events that
are scheduled very closely and/or consecutively.  The reminders are
usually set for 10 to 15 minutes before an event.  Often users
receive the first reminder and then the others are followed, as
scheduled, whether or not the user is present at his/her workstation.
If users are not present at their workstation (e.g., attending a
meeting) the reminder does not serve its purpose which is to inform
the user of upcoming event(s).

A mechanism is desired to search the users' events schedule
(e.g., users' Calendar) to detect any consecutive/overlapping events
and adjust the users-defined date and time of those events reminders,
if any.

The mechanism provided in this article automates the adjustment
of the user-defined date and time of the events reminders in
correlation with scheduled events on users' Calendar.  This includes
a Reminder Service that can be explicitly or implicitly (via a
profile) activated by users.  The Reminder Service monitors the
users' Calendars for the requested reminders.  It specifically
searches for the consecutive events that have pending reminders.  If
such conditions are detected the Reminder Service compares the date
and time of the reminder...
