Abstract

This disclosure describes a method, means, and computer program to allow the adjusting of Job Parameters without reducing Production Capacity due to stopping the job, editing the job data and finally restarting the job. A centralized database stores all job parameters thereby providing data access to multiple Operator Interface applications while preserving data integrity by locking logical records for read and write activities.

Modifying Bindery Job Data While Executing Job

This disclosure describes a method, means, and computer
program to allow the adjusting of Job Parameters without reducing
Production Capacity due to stopping the job, editing the job data and
finally restarting the job.  A centralized database stores all job
parameters thereby providing data access to multiple Operator
Interface applications while preserving data integrity by locking
logical records for read and write activities.

The job parameters which can be modified while running include:

o   Print Head Offsets
o   Print Group Offsets
o   Print Group Tab
o   Values
o   Error Thresholds
o   Cabcon Mode/Standard Mode Selection
o   Ripple Stopping at End of Volume
o   Quality Book Definitions
o   Periodic Quality Book Sampling Rate

Job parameter changes made via the Operator Interface
application are distributed throughout the Bindery Control System
once the operator has confirmed the changes.  Once distributed, the
parameter changes take effect as soon as possible.  Parameter changes
affecting print location (Head Offsets, Group Offsets and Group Tab
Values) take affect on all books not yet printed at that printer
station.  Parameter changes regarding error thresholds and
Cabcon/Standard Modes are effective immediately.  Parameters
regarding End of Volume stops are effective for all books not yet
physically started on the Bindery line.  Parameters regarding Quality
Books are effe...
