Application Document Icon

Disclosed is a technique to visually indicate the status of a
document being displayed in an application window.

Current windowing system allows an application to display an
icon on the left side of the title bar.  This icon, besides serving
as a system popup menu, represents the underlying functionality of
the application; however, it does not convey the status or attribute
of the content of the window.

In addition to the application-icon, this invention proposes
another icon on the title-bar called the document-icon representing
the status of the content of the window.  Some different possible
states of a document are locked, read-only, has-been-modified, or
being-shared.  The document-icon is updated dynamically as the status
of the document changes.  Furthermore, the document-icon can be
dragged and dropped on other applications such as a printer to print
the document, thus providing a dynamic drag-drop manipulation.
