New Structure for Thin Film Transistor/Liquid Crystal Display

      This article describes the Thin Film Transistor/Liquid Crystal
Display( TFT/LCD) structure which protects the liquid crystal from
damaging caused by the dc bias on the gate lines.  The 2nd gate lines
made isolated on the common electrode as the same shape of the 1st
gate lines on the TFT/ARRAY side are connected to the 1st gate lines,
relatively.

      Figure 1 shows the cross section of this LCD.  The voltage
deference between the 1st gate line and the 2nd gate line is ZERO.
So the liquid crystal on the gate line is biased zero and is not
damaged.

      The electrical connection between 1st and 2nd gate line is made
by conductive metal-plated spacers mixed in the sealing resin as
shown Figure 2.  This conductive adhesive electrically connects only
two relative lines.

      This structure can protect the liquid crystal above the
gate-line from being dc biased, so the reliability of TFT/LCD will be
improved.
