Abstract

Due to conflicting calendar events, many meetings and classes are posted on the electronic calendar which the user cannot attend. When users check their calendar history, there is no way to discern which events were attended.

Record Meeting Attendance on the Calendar

      Due to conflicting calendar events, many meetings and classes
are posted on the electronic calendar which the user cannot attend.
When users check their calendar history, there is no way to discern
which events were attended.

      Example:  John's calendar for May 1 shows two meetings to which
he is invited.  The subject of both meetings is Project A, but one is
a planning meeting, and the other one is a funding meeting.  Due to
conflicting circumstances, John is only able to attend the planning
meeting.  On August 1, John begins his fall planning activities, and
discovers he is missing certain critical information, but his peers
insist that the material was covered in the May funding meeting.
John checks his electronic calendar to see if he was invited to that
meeting.  He sees that he was invited, but he can't remember whether
he attended.

      This system allows John to be able to discern that he attended
the planning meeting, but not the funding meeting.  On May 1, at the
end of the day, John selects the planning meeting event on his
calendar, and then selects the ATTENDED pulldown or icon.  This
automatically fills in the ATTENDED field for the selected event,
showing that John did indeed attend the planning meeting.  The
calendar also saves the date that the meeting was marked as ATTENDED,
and this date can also be displayed upon subsequent investigation.
