Abstract

Recent advancements in Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), notebooks, laptops, etc. have provided a user with methods for transporting their electronic office. Recent products provide methods by which the software can notify the user as to the battery power level. These products typically provide a local warning that the battery strength is diminishing. However, such condition does not directly inform the user of recharging times nor intervals required for recharging. More specifically, no reminder is generated for recharging. Users desire a method by which typical calendars can remind and convey time intervals for PDA recharging tasks.

Personal Digital Assistant Calendar Battery Level Recharge Indication Reminder

Recent advancements in Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs),
notebooks, laptops, etc. have provided a user with methods for
transporting their electronic office.  Recent products provide
methods by which the software can notify the user as to the battery
power level.  These products typically provide a local warning that
the battery strength is diminishing.  However, such condition does
not directly inform the user of recharging times nor intervals
required for recharging.  More specifically, no reminder is generated
for recharging.  Users desire a method by which typical calendars can
remind and convey time intervals for PDA recharging tasks.

This article describes a method by which an electronic
identifier is sent to the calendar service when the battery condition
reaches a specified power level.  This identifier may be queue with
other requests when the PDA is in disconnect mode.  Upon the calendar
service receiving the identifier, the calendar will generate a
reminder service for the user to recharge the battery.  In addition,
the service will attempt to schedule the recharging interval time to
the calendar.  Special categorizations can be assigned to calendar
entries for signifying tasks that could potentially conflict with
recharging, i.e., the PDA is needed and can't be recharging during
this task.

This method allows users to have automatic reminders...
