Method for Automatically Leaving Messages on Answer Machines Depending on the Outgoing Message

      Provided to a user is the ability to define one or more
outgoing messages which may automatically be left on a person's
answer machine or answering phone mail system.

      Often, callers receive answer messages as prompts in order to
leave a phone message.  The message typically says something like
"please call me back as soon as possible".  The caller must sometimes
wait for completion of the message.  The caller must spend time
leaving the phone message.  A method is needed which reduces time
spent on a telephone by a caller.

      This invention allows a user to define one or more outgoing
messages which may automatically be left on a person's answer machine
or answering phone mail system.  Whenever the user gets an answer
message, an appropriate telephone keypad entry is made to enter a
mode for auto-leave-message.  The user then selects a numeric handle
indicating to leave an outgoing message dependent message.
Instantly, the user may hang up the phone.  Subsequent processing is
managed after the caller has ended the call.  The line used for the
call remains live, despite hanging up the phone, and a message is
automatically left without utilizing the caller's time.  This article
automatically waits for the appropriate signal for leaving a message
and leaves a message depending on the content which was detected in
