Audio Translation for ELINT Monitoring

      A process is disclosed for transforming radar signals to an
audible presentation suitable for real-time intelligence gathering
operations.

      Software synthesizes an audio presentation of radar emitters in
the environment by translating signals from the radio frequency range
to an audio frequency range, and by changing the time scale from
microseconds to milliseconds.  Characteristics such as "frequency
modulation on pulse", "scanning", "tracking", "pulse grouping", and
"frequency agility" are then quickly and easily recognized by the
electronic intelligence (ELINT) operator.  Characteristics such as
"friendly" or "hostile" identification are represented by adding
synthesized tonal qualities to the sound.
