Cover for Connector Contacts

Disclosed is a cover for connector contacts which prevents
air-floating dust from entering through a connector slot and stacking
on the connector contacts.

There are many contact failures or intermittent problems in the
connections between card edge tabs and connectors.  One of the major
causes of contact failure is air-floating dust.  There has been no
connector cover for, at least, the MCA connector slots to avoid the
air dust.  It is considered that the proposed cover is effective
especially for the horizontally mounted connector because the dust
stacks when the connector is left unused for long cooling
ventilation.

The present cover is designed to cover the contacts in the
connector slot and keep their surfaces clean and smooth while the
slot is unused.  Figs. 1 and 2 show front and side views of the
present cover, respectively, which comprises a lever portion 10 and
an edge portion 12.  When the contacts of the unused slot are to be
covered, the user inserts the edge portion 12 into the slot with the
lever portion 10 being held by a hand until the opening of the slot
is covered or sealed by a visor portion 14.

As shown in Fig. 2, the end of the edge portion 12 is a little
bigger and rounded.  This shape provides a wiping effect when the
connector cover is extracted from the slot.
