Single-Drive Input Double Gripper Picker for Pass-Through Picking

      A design concept to alternately activate one gripper of a
pass-through double gripper picker while deactivating the other with
the cartridge motion, hence allowing a single motor to perform any
selected operation.

      There are eight possible cartridge motions provided by a
pass-through double gripper picker:

1.  Gripper 1/Side A pick

2.  Gripper 1/Side A insert

3.  Gripper 1/Side B pick

4.  Gripper 1/Side B insert

5.  Gripper 2/Side A pick

6.  Gripper 2/Side A insert

7.  Gripper 2/Side B pick

8.  Gripper 2/Side B insert

      By employing two cartridge moving means, one for each gripper
which can pick and insert a cartridge at either side of the gripper,
the eight motions can be grouped into two independent operations
which are performed one at a time by a single reversible motor:
Gripper 1 operation and gripper 2 operation.  The objective of this
design is to provide a concept to switch operation, from one gripper
to the other without an additional active device such as selenoid.

      In this design, as illustrated in the Figure, each gripper 1
has a cartridge moving means 2 to move the cartridge 3 in either
direction along the gripper shell and two switching means 4 to switch
the motor 5 operation from one gripper to the other.  The two
switching means 4 are located at each end of the gripper, with a
